A Pure Luxury Escape At Pimalai Resort & Spa, Krabi

a little patch of heaven in krabi

As a beach lover, I love the Andaman Sea and regularly travel to Phuket. I came to Krabi for the first time more than 10 years ago and stayed at the beautiful Railay beach. I was therefore excited when I found out that I would have a chance to visit Koh Lanta as the island is largely unspoilt and has its own distinct charm.

I stayed at the Pimalai Resort & Spa, located in the south of Koh Lanta. The amazing service started right at the airport. The well-trained and friendly staff escorted me to the waiting private van, which took me to the Pimalai jetty. It is about a 50 minute car journey to get to Koh Lanta from Krabi Airport. Pimalai has its own private jetty and this becomes very convenient during high season when boat traffic is busy. The speed boat ride took about 40 minute, with magnificent views of many small islands along the way.

I stayed at the 3 bedroom Hillside Ocean View Pool Villa – the views of the Andaman Sea from the balcony were stunning. The resort blends in perfectly with the surrounding natural landscape. Pimalai Resort has four types of rooms : Deluxe Room ; Suites ; Beachside Villas and Hillside Pool Villas – all with a contemporary Thai style design.

The four restaurants at Pimalai were all excellent and I looked forward to every meal. The breakfast served at the Seven Seas was delicious, with a variety of choices and amazing elevated ocean views. For lunch you can choose Banyan Tree Cafe which serves both Thai and International food . Spice and Rice serves authentic Thai and some local southern dishes. Rak Talay has a “Surf & Turf" dinner buffet on the beach, including freshly caught seafood and a selection of good quality meat.

Compare to big luxury hotel chains, the level of service at Pimalai is second to none. In my opinion , Pimalai provides one of the best resorts experiences in Thailand. Everywhere I went I felt like a guest of honour. The attention to detail throughout the resort was exemplary. Within five minutes after my request, the hotel car would arrive in front of my villa without fail.

This experience is what I would called heartfelt hospitality, which created a good impression from the pick-up to the drop-off. I am not surprised why they have so many returning guests. I was sad to say goodbye to Pimalai but I know this was not forever as I will definitely return. Pimalai is my little patch of heaven on earth.
