มิลาน เมืองอุตสาหกรรมยักษ์ใหญ่ในอดีต ได้กลายเป็นศูนย์กลางด้านการออกแบบชั้นนำของโลก โดยมีงานแสดงสินค้าเฟอร์นิเจอร์ระดับโลกอย่าง Salone del Mobile และงาน Fuorisalone ที่จัดขึ้นควบคู่กันในช่วง Milan Design Week เป็นเวทีนำเสนอผลงานออกแบบที่สำคัญประจำปี งาน Salone del Mobile 2024 เตรียมต้อนรับผู้ร่วมจัดแสดงสินค้ากว่า 1,900 ราย โดยมี David Lynch ผู้กำกับภาพยนตร์ชื่อดัง เป็นผู้อำนวยการจัดสร้างพื้นที่พิเศษ “A Thinking Room" เพื่อสำรวจความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการออกแบบภายในและการแสดงออกถึงตัวตน นอกจากนี้ เนื่องในโอกาสครบรอบ 15 ปีของ SaloneSatellite ซึ่งเป็นพื้นที่จัดแสดงผลงานของนักออกแบบรุ่นใหม่ จะมีการจัดนิทรรศการพิเศษที่ Triennale di Milano เพื่อย้อนรอยผลกระทบและผลงานของศิลปินที่เคยเข้าร่วมตลอด 15 ปีที่ผ่านมา พิพิธภัณฑ์แห่งนี้ยังมีนิทรรศการเกี่ยวกับ Alessandro Medini สถาปนิกชื่อดัง และ Inga Sempé นักออกแบบชาวฝรั่งเศส Alcova คือ อีกหนึ่งงานออกแบบที่น่าสนใจ โดยเป็นการรวมตัวของกลุ่มศิลปิน จัดแสดงผลงานในสถานที่สำคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์ ซึ่งมีทั้งผลงานของนักออกแบบมืออาชีพและนักออกแบบรุ่นใหม่ Baranzate Ateliersและ Galerie Philia จะเน้นงานหัตถกรรม และงานโลหะ โดย Galerie Philia จะนำเสนอผลงานศิลปะ “Celestial Attraction" ของ Jérôme Pereira อีเวนท์เปิดสตูดิโอของ Piero Lissoni รวมถึงการจัดแสดงผลงานโดย Kohler และ Nilufar คาดว่าจะเป็นไฮไลท์ของงาน สะท้อนถึงความสำคัญอันดับต้นๆ ของมิลานในแวดวงการออกแบบโลก

Milan, once an industrial powerhouse, has evolved into a leading design hub, showcased annually at Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone during Milan Design Week. The 2024 edition of Salone del Mobile will feature over 1,900 exhibitors, with director David Lynch curating a space called A Thinking Room, exploring the relationship between interiors and self-expression. To mark the 15th anniversary of SaloneSatellite, an exhibition at Triennale di Milano will highlight its impact and showcase past participants. Additionally, the museum will host exhibitions on architect Alessandro Medini and French designer Inga Sempé. Alcova, a collective show, will occupy historic sites with work from established and emerging designers. Baranzate Ateliers and Galerie Philia will focus on slow craft and hand-forged goods, while Galerie Philia presents Jérôme Pereira’s Celestial Attraction. Open studio events with Piero Lissoni and installations by Kohler and Nilufar are also anticipated highlights, reflecting Milan’s continued significance in the design world.
